West Bengal resident Surajit Dey, who moved to Sudan to earn a dwelling, paid Rs 10 lakh bus fare together with 49 others to return safely to India. A software program engineer by career, Dey was stranded in a lodge in Sudan’s capital Khartoum together with different employees of his group.

After the lodge ran out of primary facilities like water and meals, panic took over the group. In Surajit’s phrases, “We requested the Indian embassy to assist us get out of Sudan. I, together with 49 different Indians risked our lives and employed a bus for Rs 10 lakh to take us to Port Sudan, about 900 km from the lodge we have been staying at. One individual paid Rs 30,000 bus fare for the trip.”

Due to ‘Operation Kaveri’ carried out by the Indian authorities to evacuate stranded Indians in Sudan, Surajit and his group reached Jeddah, Saudi Arabia on an Indian Airways flight and flew to Delhi afterwards.

Considered one of Surajit’s members of the family mentioned, “He (Surajit) went to Khartoum in March 2023 to work for MTN Telecom Firm Software program. After the combating between the nation’s navy and Speedy Assist Forces (RSF) started, his contact with the skin world was misplaced.
